Announcing a new feature now in Adobe Camera Raw (17.2) – Removal of Distracting People
Under the Remove dialog, under Distraction Removal, we have added an item called “People”.
This feature supports faster and easier detection and removal of distracting people in an image. It is offered as a Tech Preview in the Adobe Camera Raw Plugin-only and is available now. Please try it out and let us know what works well, what doesn’t work well, and anything that might improve the experience.
Thank you!

Only removing 50% of the people in Lrc, the image is a 100mp so pretty clean. Can't attatch file as it's 47MB, to big.

removal went well, removing a few people in my background who were "small" things to remove.

Wow, I just tried the distraction tool on many people at the temple in the Valley of the Temples in Sicily! It was amazing. I see a little blur on only one section and it removed a LOT of people in different parts of the photo!

Used for the first time today. Group of 5 people, removed 4 of them, though all were highlighted) and left one standing (???)

In my case, the distraction detection has been correct at the moment but in some cases I had to give up due to the reconstruction following the removal.

Hmmm. Welll, I have been using the Remove tool for a few days now and it needs A LOT of reworking for the algorithm and code. It needs fine tuning featuers BIG TIME. For this tool to be worth using at all, it needs to have much more realistic content aware replacements. It also needs fine tuning features. I need to be able to deselect and select small portions of the image manually. I need to be able to tell it which people and or items are to be removed. The AI is terrible at chosing the distraction vs the subject. It frequently leaves a visible digital outline of the removed people or objects. The AI often adds in new replacement obects that are not at all related to the original image. I am attaching the nest image ressult, which is pretty unrealistic. most other images were far worse than this rendering.

People Removal generally works great for me, but the detection of annoying folks does not always pick up all I'd like to remove. Can a brush be added to enabvle manual selection of persons to be deleted.

Respectfully, what is the point of a tool that claims to remove distracting people, but replaces them with strange, ugly substitutes that are more distracting than the original? Yes, I know, it will get better. And I look forward to that day. But it's not quite ready for prime time, just yet.

Also, as others have already stated, needs more brushable, alterable selections, and like other AI generations, we should be provided with several options.

Seriously. I don't even know what it replaced this person with.

Looks like a kid with a foot sticking out of the forehead.

Need the ability to try again. I have pictures with many people in one section that the tool is not identifying for removal. Maybe a way to isolate the area to search, add/subtract like other masking tools.

Three people were selected - only two were removed.

Cela n'a pas très bien fonctionné, la suppression de personne sur l'image a généré des parties de personnes

Didn't identify background people. However, did remove a small, distracting item in the foreground.

I used the people remove tool involving images at night and during normal daylight hours. I used images with multiple people in the image and some with single individuals. The tool has difficulty locating all the people. if more than one group or individual is in the image the auto select typically does not select or find all the people and will only highlight a partical to remove. I attempted a secondary search on the same images to see if the people missed would be found and removed and the tool failed to remove on secondary searches.

Unfortunately, removing unwanted people or those distracting from the subject on the beach always left ghostly shadows.

Finding this v helpful, especially with smaller people in background, but results are too varied fro larger people i.e. nearer the forground. When a person needs removing who is partly overlaying a main subject you want to keep then could it be worked on please that the AI fill of the space is more accurate as there are v random things put in place.
Thanks

Not a bad start!!! Definitely helps my workflow, in some cases. It's by no means perfected, but it's it's a move in the right difrection for sure. My only wish would able to edit the edit (as in the generative remove brush optiion to add/subtract). I don't expect the people directly behind this subject's ear to be perfect-so a tweak on my part could hadd his real human ear back with a simple erase brush.

Generally, this function works pretty well. However, I'm somewhat frustrated that I cannont mark additional people that the function misses for some reason and delete them too. Alternatively, it could be setup to mark ALL people in the photo, and then the user could simply "unmark" the people that they want to remain in the picture.

It would be really nice if they allowed another option to add more people to the removal.

How can I modify a selection because it includes a sign with the person and will not let me reduce it to just the person for removal?

I have to say I am a big fan of the Distraction addition. Removal of window reflections is very good. Ditto removal of distracting people but I can see this going a little over when you just want to rid an image of a photo bomb. Applause for the team that put this together.
