For a complete overview of camera support in Photoshop and Lightroom, visit the following article:

Why doesn't my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

  1. Make sure your version of Photoshop or Lightroom is updated for the latest camera support.
  2. If you own an older version of Photoshop or Lightroom, Adobe provides backward compatibility for the latest cameras through the FREE Adobe DNG Converter.

Note: ETAs for specific cameras are not available

Hi Adobe team,

I would like to submit a feature request for support of Sony A7 V Compressed (HQ) RAW files in Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw.

At the moment, only Lossless Compressed RAW files from the A7 V are supported. Files captured using Compressed (HQ) (as well as standard compressed RAW) are not recognized as fully editable RAW files—they import as previews or are not editable, and they also cannot be converted to DNG using the Adobe DNG Converter.

Compressed (HQ) is a primary file format option on the A7 V and is extremely helpful for managing file sizes—especially for high-volume workflows such as events and weddings. Adding support for this format would significantly improve workflow efficiency, storage management, and flexibility for photographers using this camera.

Request:

Please add support for Sony A7 V Compressed (HQ) RAW files in Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw in an upcoming update.

If possible, it would also be helpful to know whether this support is already planned or currently in development.

Thank you for your continued support of Sony users and RAW workflow improvements.

Hi Adobe team,

I’m currently working with files from the Sony A7 V and have noticed that only Lossless Compressed RAW files are supported in Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw.

RAW files captured using Compressed (HQ) (as well as standard compressed RAW) are not recognized as fully editable RAW files—they import as previews or are not editable.

Since Compressed (HQ) is a primary file format option on the A7 V and helps significantly with file size management, this limitation impacts workflow and storage efficiency.

Could you please share if support for Sony A7 V Compressed (HQ) RAW files is currently in development, and whether there is an estimated timeline for when it may be added?

If there are any recommended workarounds beyond switching to Lossless Compressed RAW during shooting, I would appreciate any guidance. I’ve also tried the DNG converter and it doesn’t work.

Thank you.

My bad, sorry. I’m not a Sony user (not an Adobe employee) so not aware of the ‘compressed file’ problem, and the Supported Camera link does not specify that file compression might be limited to HQ compression.

Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.1.1, Photoshop 27.3.1, ACR 18.1.1, Lightroom 9.0, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.2 .

@Rob_Cullen all good only Lossless compression is currently supported by Lightroom but they’ve historically never had issues with RAW compressed on any other Sony ecosystem (coming from A7R3 & A7S3) this is the first ecosystem Adobe is taking forever to accommodate users

What software are you using?

The A7V is supported in v9.1 of Lightroom-Desktop, v15.1 of Lightroom-Classic, and v18.1.1 Adobe Camera Raw.

Please update your software to support Sony A7V I am embarrassed to use an editing software tool that isn’t updated almost a month later from when a new camera releases. Adobe is supposed to be the leader in photo editing software and there are other smaller companies that are better than you right now

The Sony A7V was released in December 2, 2025 and Adobe still doesn't support RAW files in Lightroom!

I know you guys work hard, but come on, 3 months after release, still no full support of the A7V. It’s not like we don’t pay every month. This new Lightroom release is really a bummer. I do not know who’s to blame the most, Adobe or Sony here, but both of you are getting a bad rep. Are we going to have to wait for another 3 months? I love Lightroom, I’ve used it for 10 years now, but I sure am not going to wait for 3 months.

They’ve only added support for the Lossless Compressed RAW format so far. The other RAW formats (Uncompressed and Compressed) are still not supported in LRC.
