When I'm using RAW images for editing, I typically load 10-20 images in Camera Raw. When I try to use AI-related features like AI masking, I receive the following error message:
"The graphics processor has encountered an unrecoverable error.
Due to a run-time error, GPU acceleration has been disabled for the remainder of the session."
I have tried all the methods mentioned in forums for months, almost 6 months now. Currently, I cannot even edit a single photo if the preset is slightly heavy with AI tools such as subject selection or background selection.
I have taken the following steps to try to resolve the issue:
I noticed that my CPU usage reaches 100% when performing these tasks, and my RAM usage, which is around 30% in an idle state, goes up to 70% or higher during these tasks. My Windows system has more than 100GB of free space, and I have allocated 50GB for cache.
Here are my PC specs: "Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 19045) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Hi there! Thank you for reaching out! I understand how frustrating it can get when a program behaves this way, especially on capable hardware. Try this: Find C:\Users\your username\AppData\Local\Adobe\CameraRaw\Cache2, delete the Cache2 folder.
Find the camera raw plugin in the file explorer C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats\Camera Raw.8bi and delete this .8bi file. This would remove Camera Raw. Now we re-install the plugin by following the steps here: https://adobe.ly/4mGBP7m

Have been having the same issue. No fix found thus far. I have been trending towards a photoshop problem, as I have played games and ran graphics processor tests and have never had an error in anything other than photoshop

same issue even more so on latest update even only uploading 5 images at a time. Adobe always blame the computer systems but I run other heavy use programmes and NONE of them act like PS. Sort it out Adobe!!!

I received the same error. I ried many "fixes" from the Adobe Community and from Adobe itself with no luck. However I did find a
workaround. In my workflow I have tow monitors and a Huon 16 inch video graphics tablet. I have Photoshop and Bridge open. When I go into Adobe Camera RAW my GPU crashes. I found if I go to Bridge and select the photo I want to edit and bring it into Photoshop then close Bridge, when I go into Adobe Camera Raw I have no trouble editing my photo in Adobe Camera RAW. I can go back and forth from Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw with no issues.
Like I said, this is a work around. Ihave no other issues with any outher programs that use the GPU. Adobe needs to find a fix.

Hi Texaselad
I tried your work around to no avail. The one good thing to come from this is I know it's not my GPU. Hopefully Adobe will fix this. I have had to resort to using another program altogether with not such problems.
I'm wondering if you uploaded as a smart object or went through Filters to make changes.

I had a problem while using Topaz a couple of years ago. I was opening the files in Topaz apart from Photoshop. My monitors both went blank. When I rebooted, they both showed the same screen and I couldn't set up the two monitors again. Eventually, I did a system restore and I was back to normal. Since then I only do one photo at a time in Topaz. Yesterday, while working in Photoshop, the same thing happened. Then today again. I got your GPU error message when I went into Camera Raw before I exited Raw and then tried to edit the photo some more. I just got that message again. I'm going to reboot and then try again. My thought this time is that my computer hasn't kept up with the required resources. Wondering if it could otherwise be a graphics card problem?

I recenrtly purchased a new desktop (Intel 7 ultra, RAM 64 Gb, Nvidia RTX 5070), and started to see this error even more often than I saw it in my 7-years old system (Intel i5, RAM 32, Nvidia RTX 4060). With the old system was able to process 10-15 images before the need to restart photoshop due to this error, now only 3-4 images with implementation of AI masks. Same 45 MP RAW files. Either 2-months old or the most recent Nvidia studio driver, no difference. Very frustrating to say the least. And I do not see any workable solution (e.g. I do not have the TempDisableGPU files). Anybody resolved? Thanks.

You know, this improved my experience dramatically, thank you.
Still sometimes a kind of freezes (perhaps the system releases used memory and lags at this time) but no graphics processor errors.

Ahh.. I was too fast to answer positively. No, no improvement when AI masks are used. Same old, sometimes 10+ files, other time 3-4 files, and everything gets stuck so that I need Task Manager to close Photoshop, or just generates Graphics Processor Error message that allowes to restart Photoshop manually.
