P: Need a shortcut to create an object selection mask in ACR

As mentioned: i create object selection masks very often in my ACR workflow and it drives me insane to move there the mouse evey time (even worse there's more than one click necessacry).
Is there any hidden posibility to assign a shortcut?

OT: no individual shortcuts in LR/ACR are the biggest disadvantage in this ecosystem. I'd love to change LRs "R" (why) to the wayyy more logical "C" (Crop) like in ACR and PS...

Hi
I don't know of a way, but I've moved your post from the Photoshop forum to the Camera Raw forum where you are more likely to get advice relevant to your question.

command-R is cRop because command-C is Copy. I've never pursued remapping keys or shortcuts for fear of breaking something that's not broken.

The shortcut in Camera Raw 17.1 in ACR and Ps>Filter>Camera Raw filter is the 'M' key. Pressing the shortcut key saves little work on the user's behalf, since you still have to move the cursor over to the right panel to select the one mode of five that is available.

As you said, M activates the masking section, but doesn't give diect access to a specific type of mask, like G for the gradient mask or J for the radial mask (ACR). Woud be insanely helpful if they could simply assingn a letter to the object mask!

To the "lightroom shorcut dilemma": many people that use LR are also (long time) PS users. And in PS "G" is a gradient "C" is crop etc... If Adobe would've used the traditional namings to create consisteny over all apps, everyting would be much easier. Just my 2cents...

ACR shortcuts as documented by Adobe are here:

Thanks! Clearly documented that there's unfortunaltely NO shortcut letter assigned to select object masks.

Adobe this is a feature request!

And if you want to make the world a better place: enable individual shortcuts for LR and ACR as it is standard for PS for a long time...

Having confirmed there is no direct shortcut, or way of making one, I've moved this thread to ideas where it will be treated as a feature request and can be upvoted.

As a minimum I would like to see a shortcut added (it is strange that it is the only one of four without a direct shortcut). At best I would like the ability, similar to Photoshop, to customise shortcuts.
I've added my vote to the thread

"it is strange that it is the only one of four without a direct shortcut"

Which four do you mean?

I am thinking that there are five options included in "Select" - Subject, Sky, Background, Objects, People.

I would like to see a separtate shortcut for each!

These four.

The range options at the next icon already have shortcuts.

OK, I understand now.

Still would like the 5 select subsections to have their own shortcuts though.

I guess that would be asking for quite a lot!
