Hello,

I came across this article;

59 Ridiculous Adobe Captivate Issues | LinkedIn

Does this commumity agree or disagree with this?

I found some parts to be true, others not as true, and yet some not relevant to my workflow. To me, it looks like Articulate is just bashing Adobe and trying to promote Storyline.

What you you guys think?

    I don’t think this discussion belongs on this forum. We come here to help and to be helped in a forum hosted by Adobe. Discussions like this belong on a neutral group, like those where you found it.

    It is not a question, but a discussion, at least on the Jive forums.

    Coming from Stoyline to Captivate I have to agree with him on some points. Once you master the basics of Storyline you can create some pretty cool interactions and once you get going you can deep dive into some pretty awesome advanced features.

    Personally I find the lack of flexibility in fluid boxes to be a huge frustration. Why do they have to be boxes? In Storyline you can create non-box conforming layouts and they can still look good when you view them on an iPhone.  The fact that you cant import and then edit PowerPoint slides is also very strange. Internal customers think they are helping me by creating PowerPoint's but they are utterly useless in Captivate.

    As mentioned above there are Pros and Cons to each authoring tool but I am not seeing this as a bashing post from Articulate just some dudes opinions. I belong to both online communities and Articulate doesn't usually bash Adobe. I love my Creative Cloud and like using my apps with both Storyline and Captivate so why do I have to choose one over the other?  The funny part is I found this post looking for more resources about working with fluid boxes...

    You don't have to create 'real' responsive projects, create a scalable HTML5 project

    If you don't like Fluid Boxes, you can use Breakpoint views developing.  FB's need some learning time, I didn't try latest SL: can it now create real responsive projects where the layout is different depending on the screen size? WIth true full HTML5 output and possible integration of Javascript? I know there is still no Library, not internal, not external. That is to me a big omission.

    Love the real roundtripping with Photoshop, Audition and Illustrator...

    I always tell no one should use PPT import in Captivate, totally agree with that. My personal opinion is also that PPT is a presentation tool and not really good for eLearning but lot of people disagree.

    I agree about PowerPoint for sure. Can you point me in the direction of some resources that might help me with breakpoint views? The ones I have found are basic and are on previous Captivate versions.   Like how do I get the old slider in a new responsive project? I was hoping to create a master slide template and not have to manually adjust each slide for each view. The problem is that the design isn't a square so it doesn't fit in a box. Any suggestions?

    I wish I had the time to write 59 points about something I'm not going to continue to use. The items in the author's list fall into four categories; some things he is right about, some things he is wrong about, some things are only his opinion, and some things he is simply uninformed. I wonder what made him so angry.

    Just a ridiculous guy. Maybe a Captivate expert should once write an article about all the lacking features in StoryLine? Be sure I don't want to be that ridiculous gal....  Will be the last to use StoryLine (the copy/paste eLearning authoring tool without reusability features), I have lot of respect for Lectora however. Every tool has its good and bad features, the integration of other (front) Adobe applications with Captivate is something all other eLearning authoring tools could be jealous about.

    Let us behave as adults, not like childish T...similar people. I prefer Captivate over other tools, I prefer Photoshop and Illustrator over Corel apps, Indesign and Framemaker over Word... but I use MS Project and Excel.  Bashing never has helped anyone.
