Hi everyone!
I am trying to use the new 2023 release of Captivate for a software simulation. In Classic, I can add Click Boxes, which cause the slide to pause or not move on to the next slide until after the user clicks in that area of the screen. I can't figure out how to do this in the new Captivate. Is this still a feature?
If you capture in Training or Assessment mode, those click boxes are added automatically like in previous versions. They'll do exactly the same as you describe. But a click box is not an object available in the new version (is deprecated), except during the capture process. Sorry... bit confusing. Personally I keep to Captivate Classic for software simulations.

Ah, I see my problem! I recorded it as a Demo instead of a Training.
From experiementing, it looks like Demo gets you highlight boxes, instructions (i.e. call out boxes or text boxes) and mouse pointer, but no click box. Recording as a Training or Assessment gets you click boxes, but no highlight boxes, instructions or mouse pointer.
This is very limiting and, as someone who has only used Captivate in the past because its software simulation is easier, I am extermely disapointed.

It is a duplicate of the workflow as in the past, but there are indeed limitations because the normal objects you are used to be able to add are lacking. New version is meant to create only responsive projects, and a lot of objects have been lost: click boxes, shapes etc. What is bothering me a lot more is that to simulate the responsiveness there is an automatic pan and zoom when you switch to tablet and mobile view. For a Demo that is OK, but you don't want this for Training or Assessment. At least that is my opinion. That is why I would never use version 12 for software simulations at its present state. BTW I never use a software sim in Demo mode, Video Demo is a better choice in that case since the result is passive. But Video Demo is not present in version 12 at all.
