Please help!! We are having issues with the audio automatically and gradually increasing in volume. The issue is not apparent during recording, rather it occurs after being published. Preview does not show the same issues. Please advise on what we can do to mitigate this problem?

If the sound files do not show increasing volume after being recorded, and the Preview as HTML also does not show the issue, these two things would tend to indicate that the issue is more likely to be related to something about the end user's hardware or browser technology.

You will need to test on several different end user computer configurations to try and isolate the cause.

Is it possible to give some clarification?

  • Which exact version number do you use? You find it under Help, About Captivate.
  • Which Preview method do you use? If it is a non-responsive project the only valid Preview is F11, Preview HTML in Browser.
  • Did you upload the published folder to a LMS or to a webserver for testing?
  • Is the audio pure slide audio or do you have more types of audio.
  • Was the audio recorded in Captivate or imported? If it was imported: WAV or MP3?

Many thanks! This proved to be the solution and we are now successfully recording as well as salvaging the existing files. We were using a workaround to record in Spanish (via Teams and using system audio vs. microphone audio) as only one of us had access to Captivate record/edit. Now that we figured out the different end user configurations we have eliminated the issue and both systems are compatible again 🙂 Thanks for the support and appreciate the help!
