Hi,

I'm trying to find out if the bookmark feature in Captivate can be used (prompting users to resume where they left off or restart the course from the beginning) without having the table of content showing?

Bookmarking is only available if you either use the table of contents or if you use an LMS with Never Send Resume Data unchecked in your properties panel, under the Quiz/Reporting/Advanced. If you simply upload your eLearning project to a web server and do not have the table of contents turned on and with Self Paced Learning checked, your users will not be prompted to resume the course from where they left off.

Are you talking about an elearning module that is being delivered from a web server or from an LMS?  (The actual bookmarking method differs accordingly.)

RodWard, the eLearning is not on an LMS. It will be deployed onto a web server.

Ok.  Then you need to be using a Skin (TOC and/or Playbar) and you need to turn on Self-Paced Learning in the Skin Editor settings for the TOC.

This type of bookmarking uses browser cookies to store information about which slide the user reached in their session.

For this to work you really need to have the TOC, but you can set the TOC to be an overlay TOC and replace the images the learner might click on to bring out the TOC so that they would not be likely to know it was even available at all.
