Hello
I am not a regular user of Captivate so I am inexperienced and need advice
I have a whole course module comprising of all the video demonstrations and simulations for each learning outcome for that module. e.g. Module 6 - 8 learning outcomes
Rather than have everyone complete every learning outcome I want to have a slide on the module where they click on their job role e.g. Nurse and then progress through ONLY the learning content applicable to that role e.g.
Nurse slides 1 ,2 ,5 and 6.
HCA slides 1,2 and 4.
The trouble is they when branching, I can't group a slide twice i.e. I can't add slide 1 to the Nurse group and the HCA group.
I don't want to duplicate the slides at that will make the course huge.
Am I trying to use branching for something it is not intended to do?
Thank you
Some important information is missing: which version of Captivate are you using? You find the full version number under Help, About Captivate.
Will you report to a LMS? It may be easier to have the two common modules (1,2) in one mdule, and set up rules in the LMS, based on user account, to show the other modules after completion of the common first part. Especially if you are working on a responsive project (in New version or older version).

At the start of each module you need to use a conditional action (could be a shared action in this case) to either Continue in that module or skip over it. I don't know why you say that skipping is impossible?
As for the quiz: do you mean that each module has a quiz and you want to have the individual results for each module to be transmitted to th

It is more like you'll need to 'skip' modules than real branching and it can be set up in one big project as well.
You forgot modulé 3?
I can explain more in deatila once I know the used version.

Hi thanks for your reply.
Tis Captivate Classic 2019 and a non responsive project.
It is One Module, so its the Learning Outcomes within it which need to be grouped for the different learners. In this example learning outcome 3 would not feature in the course for either of the examples, but would for another group of learners.
Our LMS has many features, unfortunately we are not able to access them (Gatekeeper) so I need to make it work within each Captivate course I create. Skipping slides won't work as the "Jump to" slide will be different for different users.
I will carry on having a play and see what the limitations are (My own and Captivates!).

I have fixed the grouping and it works....now the challenge of the Quiz questions and what this does to reporting. This is a steep learning curve!

You would need a conditional advanced action, and in the beginning let the learner identify its function which you store as value in a user variable. At the start of each module you need to use a conditional action (could be a shared action in this case) to either Continue in that module or skip over it. I don't know why you say that skipping is impossible?
As for the quiz: do you mean that each module has a quiz and you want to have the individual results for each module to be transmitted to the LMS? That is impossible, not because of Captivate, but because SCORM output can transmit only one quiz result for each project. In that case you will need to call the quizzes each from another project.

Oh yes I see what you mean. I hadn't considered the advanced action option. Thankfully the Quiz has been signed off which can be done by all three groups as it focuses on the common Learning Outcomes. Thanks Lilybiri. Very helpful as a sounding board. I have no one to talk to here as eveyone uses Articulate

Before they almost banned me, the team labeled me as 'Queen of advanced actions'... although I am even more fan of shared actions. Lot of my clients use them happily, sometimes for years since they can easily be imported in any project.
