Button Difficulties

New Here ,
Dec 08, 2012 Dec 08, 2012

Hi, I'm new to Captivate 6 and I'm having an issue. Normally when there's a button added the timeline pauses until you click on it. I have a button off to the side for students to click on when they're done interacting with the other items on the page. The other buttons are supposed to just play audio files when clicked on, and they work, but when I click them it ALSO resumes play on the timeline for some reason, and goes to the next slide. I don't want them to do that, I want the user to have as much time as they need to interact until they click the "Next" button. I've gone through all the different settings, and I'm not sure how to fix it. If anyone can advise, I'd be grateful.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

That is a normal way of behavior for interactive objects: when clicking on them the action to be triggered will be executend AND the play head will be released; this has always been the case in Captivate.

The easiest way to solve your problem is to replace the simple actions by one-line standard advanced actions, because they do not release the play head. I have posted an article about that difference on my blog:

And because this question pops up so many times, I also created a video showing the difference:
