Question

Can FMR (full motion recording) within Simulations be recorded as mp4?

In Adobe Captivate 8, when I record a Simulation (File / Record new Software Simulation), the result has slides with screen captures and some slides with Full Motion Recording --FMR (i.e. Video). This is good-- this is what we expect.

But the Video is always a SWF file, and I want MP4. I've tried various settings with no luck.

Is there any way to make sure the FMR Video, when captured, is recorded as MP4?

Thank you.

There is no setting in Captivate that will force it to use MP4 for FMR captures.

If you want MP4, perhaps you should capture Video Demos instead.

Thank you. I was suspecting that was the case. But it's great to have an expert confirm it!

The work flow to have cpvc-slides to replace the old FMR-slides in a software simulation is cumbersome, but I have been using it since Video Demo slide appeared:

    • capture the simulation and stop the capture when you expect a FMR-slide to be created, or just after its creation; that way the application that you are capturing will be in the correct state
    • use Insert, CPVC-slide (or use the BBB Slides, Video Demo - for some unknown reason the indication is different with the button than with Insert Menu)
    • record the cpvc slide
    • use BBB Slides, Software Simulation (missing from Insert menu) to continue the capturing
    • ....

And please, enter a feature request to help asking for a more user friendly work flow.
