Can I stil subscribe to Adobe captivate 8?

One of the clients I work for, runs Adobe captivate 8.

I would like to install version 8 on my laptop as well so we can exchange projectfiles.

Is it possible to subscribe to version 8 with some sort of retroactive effect?

Say, starting July 2015 with the chance to upgrade to 9 until August 2016?

There seems to be no telephone number I can call.

Everything navigates to 'ask the forum'.

Please help.

    Hi Myrax,

If you have or get a subscription to Captivate, then you should be able to run the older version if you want to, and upgrade whenever is convenient for you...

If you need the older software installer then you can still find it here:

Adobe Captivate 8 Direct Download Links

(please make sure to read through the entire page and carefully follow the important instructions there, or the direct links won't work)

In theory if you wished, you could even install & run the previous release on one of your computers, and the newer release on another.

    Hope that helps!

i have a license key that is for Captivate 8 so I need to get a copy of Captivate 8. I tried to download the version from above but it still gives me Captivate 9 what do I do?

Please see the previous reply, just above yours...

The direct download links still work, but you must carefully follow the download instructions there first.

Hi there, I'm back again and not very happy!

Maybe someone has another tip for me?

    I downloaded 8.

There's a link on the screen: buy now. I did. I subscribed > to version 9, because there's no other option.

But I thougt I would be fine because of what was said on this topic.

Now I want to legalize my AC 8, but therefor I need a license key... which is only provided with Volume licenses, NOT the subscription-route.

So I'm back to square 1.

I called Adobe and they offer me I can buy al volume license for 9 and then downgrade it to 8.

I would prefer the subscription however.

    Anybody any thoughts on this?

    Hello again Myrax,

It's apples and oranges; there are two paths...  Generally if you have a subscription, then you can use whichever version you like, and you can move between them at any time.  The licensing is based on your Adobe ID login, and the software will run for as long as you maintain your subscription.

However, if you buy a standalone license instead, then you will receive only the exact version you purchased - not anything in the past (or future).  The one exception is if you got a Volume license (more complicated) instead of an Individual, then Adobe could possibly downgrade you to an older release.  In either case, the licensing is based on a fixed serial number and is perpetual, meaning the software will run indefinitely.

Hope that answers all your questions; if not then just post back!

Thanks for that reply. You're right.

    The orange is: subscription.

    The apple is: standalone license.

I really would like the subscription. But it's not possible (so they say) to subscripe to version 8. Only version 9.

    And I do need 8.

Do you know a way around this?

And can you tell me the difference between a standalone license and al volume license? Because that's what I heard so far: I need to buy a volume license and then downgrade to 8.

Thanks, I tried two links on that page, but they both lead to Captivate 9 and not 8.

Also I would like the currency in Euro's since I'm located in The Netherlands.

    Can you look again please?

    Would be great!

Edit: or should I dowload AC through the file-links? See image below.

If yes: should I download file 1 or 2, or both?

And afterwards can I subscribe and get a legal key? I guess I will be prompted to do so within 30 days?

(without being forced to upgrade to 9 at that point?)

Yes, you need to follow the important instructions first, and then use the download links...  For Windows, you need both File 1 and File 2.

And yes, you would then have a 30-day free trial version until you subscribed or purchased the product.  You could continue to use Captivate 8 instead of Captivate 9 if you preferred; you would not be forced to upgrade.
