Can't share projects via flash drive?

Both my consultant and I have Captivate 2016.  When we save a project to a flash drive, give it to the other, they cannot open the file - it gives the standard  "can't open file, damaged, not enough space, etc" message.  Why is a good question but I really need to know how we can get a draft project and share it between us?  There is no budget for additional services like Adobe Connect.  And I don't want to post our content to a open forum.  What am I doing wrong?  Thx

Just want to clarify something here.   There is a Captivate 2017 and a Captivate 2019 but not a Captivate 2016.  Were you perhaps referring to Captivate 9, or was this just a typo and you meant Captivate 2019?

If you both have the same MAJOR version number, is it possible you are not both on the same MINOR version as well?  That could explain why you are not able to open each other's files.

Perhaps consider a service such as WeTransfer.com?

It's not an open forum. You upload and a link is sent to the recipient. Only someone with the link can download the files.

The other possible reason is that when you save the CPTX file to the Flash Drive, you left it in a locked condition.  For example, if you saved it directly from Captivate to the USB, rather than saving and closing down Captivate first before using Windows Explorer to copy and paste the file to the USB.  If the file is locked, there is usually a hidden file in the same location as the CPTX.  If you don't have folder properties set to show hidden files, you wouldn't see it.

This worked.  We have the right Major version but different minor versions.  Fixing that solved our issue.  Much appreciated.
