Thanks for your help. I was able to find the solution to my
problem which I will post here. Perhaps you can ask Adobe to add it
to the knowledge base of something to try when re-installing Flash
doesn't work. It is a real simple thing.
If the Microsoft XML Parser becomes corrupted or is not
installed properly, this can cause the “Could Not Open PPT
file” error in Captivate.
To correct this problem, download and install the latest
version of the Microsoft XML Parser. You can do this by following
the directions below:
1. Exit from PowerPoint.
2. Download the MSXML.msi installer from Microsoft to your
desktop.
3. Double-click on the MSXML.msi to install the program.
4. Try again to import your presentation into Captivate.
