UPDATE (4/27/2023): The macOS update for Captivate 11.8.1 is finally here! It's time to update.

We are proud to announce the latest update to Adobe Captivate 2019 – version 11.8.1, now available for Windows and macOS operating systems. CP 11.8.1 now supports macOS Ventura.

This update brings enhanced not only security and bug fixes, but also an exciting new addition - new voices for text-to-speech.

Adobe Captivate now offers a total of 14 voices, including 10 in English - seven US English voices (Ashley, James, Julie, Kate, Mark, Paul, and Sophie) and three British English voices (Adam, Alice, and Bridget). In addition, the update also includes French, Spanish, and Korean voices.

These voice enhancements provide users with a higher quality and greater variety of voices for use in Adobe Captivate. The update also ensures long-term compatibility with the latest Windows and macOS operating systems.

For more information, see the release notes.

Download Captivate 11.8.1 today!

I have been told that Captivate reaches its End of Life in August 2023 without further Adobe updates. Is there a replacement program that allow conversion of older .cpt files? Something like when Animate replace Flash?

Apologies. This was organizational driven confusion. It was the perpetual licenses that has gone away not Captivate. Those with perpetual licenses can continue using them, but updates to 11.8 will negate the license and require subscription.

One solution, not ideal, is to use parallels or some other emulator. In which case, since adobe is using different versions for mac and PC, people should be given licences for both mac and PC when they purchase captivate.  That would at least be fair.

Hello,

You mention the Mac update was next? Looks like this is from February.... when do you expect that Mac version update?
Did they fix the ability to zoom in an out wtih the quickkeys? Did they fix the ability to SAVE using the quick-keys(this works one out of 5 times), did they fix the "stop ALL sounds action" that doesnt actualy stop all sounds? (this was a reported bug over a year ago)... and lastly whatever happened to the NEW CAPTIVATE you were working on? PROJECT CHARM?
I cant wait to see it. I think I signed up for the Beta but never received anything I would love to help test it!

Cheers!

Hi Saurav,

Below is my post on the Support Community dated April 27, 2023.

Posted April 27, 2023:

"Does this update include:

  1. Install on a Mac M2 chipset.
  2. Fixes the Safari issue of radio buttons not being displayed when publishing to HTML5."

I have not received a reply, positive or negative, to my request for information regarding the install of CP on a Mac M2 Chipset.

Please can you update me on what is asked below. I want to upgrade my office systems to the M2 chipset. If the intent of Adobe is not to upgrade CP to the M2 Chipset then I will need to change my CP subscription to Windows and use Parallels as the interface. Your reply in this matter is urgently requested so a decision can be made on our upgrades

Thank you

Bob Goulder

Hi @bobg,

Captivate 11.8.1 should work well on Mac M2 chipsets, although it hasn't been fully certified yet. While we haven't encountered any issues with Captivate on Mac M2, please do let us know if you experience any problems so that we can address them.

The issue with radio buttons on Safari has been addressed in CP 11.8.1 and should be working as expected.

Thanks for the reply. Safari is now displaying radio buttons as expected. I will let you know of any issues with CP on the M2 chipset once they have been obtained.

I'm on captivate classic 11.8.2 and mac, and I can definitely say that the radio buttons are definitely not showing up as checked when using captivate on a LMS.

No the radio  buttons dont' work in preview HTML5 in browser in safari.  I mean i click on them and if I click submit then the one I selected gives the remdiation message etc. It's just I cannot see which radio button has been selected as no dot appears inside it. ie it looks blank.  Works fine in google chrome though.

I had the same problem so used Firefox. I'm on Mac with Ventura 14 and Safari 16. As I put in a previous post since CP 11.8.1 the buttons work just fine. I think the LMS is therefore not the problem as the export is HTML.

Is this a joke Adobe? After 4 years of waiting?
1. Deficient installation ( Error 81 although no installation is running in the background)
2.Still start play button which makes offline use deficient and which is an absolute sham.
3. Drag and Drop option which is unusable being extremely slow
4. Total lack of Virtual Reality in the digital age

Etc. Etc. Etc.
That's why we are seriously planning to switch to StoryLine. I'm simply fed up. So am I and my clients.

What do you mean by 'desktop application'? Captivate is not included in the Creative Cloud, if you mean the CC app. If you have a license for Captivate, you will find it in your Adobe account, not under the apps in the CC application. Click on your avatar and open your account.

All licenses are subscription licenses, linked to your Adobe ID. Do you see the Captivate license when you check your account in the CC app as I explained? Are both the CC license and the Captivate license the same type (individual) and linked to the same ID?
