Can't seem to get an answer for 12.2, but is device capture (M2 MacBook Air to iPad) still possible?

Sorry, I am confused: did Captivate ever allow this type of capture?

Sorry, I vaguely remember (am a Win user) but never tested it out.

I also don't think this, namely capturing the iPad display with the M2 MacBook, is possible with Cp 12/Simulation. But if it is solely about video capture of an iPad there are two ways:
Using an iPad (or iPhone): Record the screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Via Settings/Control Center.

Using a MacBook (or iMac etc.): Record your iPad's screen on your Mac with QuickTime Player
