Captivate 12.6 Not Saving to Mac M1 (Sequoia 15.5) – Need Help

Hi, I’m piloting Adobe Captivate (version 12.6.0.63) on my Mac Pro M1 running macOS Sequoia 15.5 and running into issues saving projects. Every time I try to save, I get the spinning wheel and lose hours of work. Are there any troubleshooting tips or known fixes for this? Thanks in advance.

For anyone reading this comment, here’s the response regarding the issue with downloading and saving Adobe Captivate projects. The big question is WHEN

"We have already raised this issue with our product team and the fix will be implemented in our next update of Captivate (13.0). We do not have an ETA about the release, but we got a confirmation that the fix will be implemented in the next built."

I had this issue on a Macbook Pro with M4 Max chip and almost lost my mind over it. After many attempts to troubleshoot with tech support, here's what finally worked:

"The fix is expected to be included in the upcoming release of Captivate 13.0, although the exact release date is not yet available.
In the meantime, we have some workaround steps that may help resolve the issue. Please follow the instructions below and let me know if you encounter any difficulties.
  • Download and Install the Developer fix build : https://f.io/u9stoB8i
  • Once installed, go to this path: /Applications/Adobe Captivate/ns/node_modules/puppeteer/.local-chromium/mac-901912/chrome-mac
  • Install the Chromium browser
  • Launch CP that is installed from the Developer build
  • Open new project > try to save. If that worked, uninstall the developer build and install the original Captivate build via https://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/vipdownload.html and try saving your file. "

I hope that you found a resolution prior to this since you posted so long ago, but if not, hopefully this will help! Good luck!

Hello, thank you so much for the suggestion. I nearly lost my mind, too, sifting through outdated troubleshooting for earlier versions and struggling to get help from Adobe. I finally received a response saying the issue would be fixed in Captivate 13.0, as you mentioned. However, when I followed up, I received only automated replies repeatedly. Then, out of the blue yesterday, I received the same automated reply again. It’s frustrating.

I was piloting the 30-day trial and poured a lot of time into testing and building projects, only to find that none of my work was saved. Eventually, I just gave up. I really wanted Captivate to work for me, but between the faulty product and poor customer support, my confidence in it has dropped significantly.

still no fixes, updates, replies from Adobe?? I am working on a presentation for the Adobe Learning Summit ... and I am not able to save my project. I have quit, saved, removed cache, restarted Captivate 25 times.... and I am NOT able to save!

Then I thought maybe I can duplicate my file, rename it, nope. Then I tried opening a Blank file so I can copy and paste my slides (tedious - but Im struggling), then I tried to see if I could just save a BLANK file file>new Project then save us... NOPE - it spins and spins before I am even able to select a directory?? Then I tried New Project > Save without a changing a thing, figured Id let it save to Documents .... still no.  Isnt this an important Feature??? Extremely frustrating, and Im trying to complete and assignment here. Please help!!

Before you ask.... I have a brand new one day old top of the line M4 MAC, with the latest version of Captivate downloaded yesterday.

I got a FIX!!! This worked for me on my MAC!

Run the following command on your Mac terminal:

softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
quit Captivate, relaunch it, and BAM! I can SAVE!

Hope it works for you!

cheers!
