Captivate 3 and Flash Player and Windows 10

I have a 2007 edition of Captivate. I've installed a new hard drive and upgraded to Windows 10. In reinstalling Captivate 3 it won't recognize the current version of Flash. I've checked to make sure Active X filtering is off and the Flash add-on is enabled. It still won't allow a load.

    I wanted to make a video about me trying to use Macromedia Captivate 1.0. I could not get it to run at all because of the incompatibility between Windows 10 with older copies of Flash.

     

    My workaround was to create a Windows XP virtual machine using VirtualBox. I had an old copy of XP laying around so I used that as my virtual operating system. Next, I installed an old copy of Flash Player. My guess would be that you would need to get your hands on Flash Player version 10 for Internet Explorer or thereabouts.

     

    Within the virtual machine, you should have no problem installing Cp3.

    I think you will find that the root of the problem with any Captivate version prior to Cp5 is that the app wasn't coded to allow for Flash versions beyond a certain number. 

    I remember first experiencing this issue with Captivate 4 where an update to the app was required before it would work with the latest FlashPlayer version of the time (I think it might have been FlashPlayer 10.)

    If that was true of Captivate 4, it would not have been any better with earlier versions of the same app.  What are we up to now, FlashPlayer 20 something?

    I think we're up to version 24 or something. I hope ronaldk89335336 only wants to run Cp3 as an experiment or something.

    Only Captivate 9 is approved officially for Win10, that is a first problem. I even doubt running it in compatibility mode will work. Using a recent OS with a 10 year old version of an app is asking for issues. For the Flash player you'll have to find a very old version of it as well.
