Captivate 5 swf gallery animations looping e.g. wrong mark

Guest

Hi,  I have used the wrong and correct marks from the Captivate swf animations gallery extensively in a Captivate 4 project.  I have upgraded the project and now these animations loop rather than stop once the mark is drawn.  I tried replacing them with the swf files in the Captivate 5 gallery and they have the same problem.  They are still Actionscript 2... so perhaps that is the problem?  The 'loop' checkbox in the Captivate Properties is shaded out.

Does anyone know of a fix this this?

Thankyou.

Hi,

So, do you mean if you use the "Wrong Mark.swf" from the following location, even that does not help:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5\Gallery\SWF Animation\Others

Thanks,

Sikandar

That is correct.  I tried using wrong mark in this Captivate 5 directory; C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 5\Gallery\SWF Animation\Others

I know I can do my own animation, but I don't have flash installed at the moment, and was hoping Adobe could fix these animations / provide a download.  Perhaps it is because they haven't been updated to Actionscript 3?

FYI, I'm having the same issue... and seems likely to be an AS2 to AS3 issue as mentioned.

Interestingly enough, when I create my own animations in Flash and import them to Captivate, they don't play properly unless I convert my own animations to AS2. I've asked about this problem but haven't received any kind of solution for addressing it. It really only matters when I'm working with movie clips that I want to rotate on the 3D axis. Otherwise the AS2 option works for my needs.

Any kind of help with this AS2/AS3 issue would be greatly appreciated!

OK, this was really micky-mousing it... but I decompiled the animations in the "Other" folder and recompiled them with ActionScript 3 code. Now in my Cap 5 project they don't auto-loop as they did before.

I decided to zip the animations up into a new folder called "Other [AS3 recompile]" and share with you guys if it would help. Email me at dannyhouk [at] gmail.com if you'd like me to send it to you.

A couple brief notes: First, there is still something Captivate doesn't like/recognize about these animations because most of their properties are grayed-out in the Properties > Animation panel. Second, I published them at 12 FPS because that is the speed I publish in Captivate, which means if you publish Captivate at 24 FPS the animations will appear to move at double the speed. But, I also include the .fla files I used so if you have Flash you can open and modify the FPS or anything else as needed. Also, decompiling is not perfect so there could be slight animation differences.

Let me know if that works for anyone else. I thought about doing the same for the animations in the other folders, but I'm pressed against a deadline so trying not to stop and do that right now.

Best,

Danny

Hi Pedro,

this post was the one that made the most  sense, it comes down to adobe fixing the issues but whether that will  happen I don't know.  If the Action Script is 2 it's not necessarily going to work in captivate 5, which is slightly annoying seeing as some of their animations are in AS2.  If they're AS3 then they're fine. Hopefully the lovely Danny might be able to send on the animation in AS3!

Pedro,

Megan is right, I think most if not all the animations are still written in AS2. If you send me an email to dannyhouk [at] gmail.com I can send you a zip file of the animations in the Other folder. Bear in mind they won't be as fluid animations, but they at least will not automatically loop.

Best,

d

I was having the same problem (posted it earlier in the forums), but never got a response. I ended up creating my own animations in

Flash to address the issue. Unfortunately I'm now having problems with those animations playing incorrectly! I'll be anxious to hear if there is a solution that works for this problem!

UPDATE: Since responding to this thread and offering the recompiled "Other" animations in AS3, I've received dozens of requests for this. Rather than responding to each request, I thought it would be easier if I posted them for free download via my public Dropbox account.

If you click the link below, the zip should start downloading immediately.

I was just about to write a question about stopping a looping animation when I found this post.

Does it mean that the whole "Expanded assets library stock animations" advertised for Captivate 5.5 are forever-looping animations because they are in AS2 and need to be recompiled? Why not recompiled till now, this thread was created almost a year ago. I guess there is no workaround to have them stop, e.g. to play the 2D Arrow just once and then stay till the end of slide... other than recompile it yourself, which seems rather complicated.

For a more constructive approach: is there a free tool or a free limited version of a paid tool that would allow for decompilation of animations from this gallery, without diving too deeply into the subject and spending days on it?

Tony,

At the time of me posting, I was using Captivate 5. I don't know if they've

corrected it in Cp 5.5 now or not. If not, then yes it was all the expanded

assets like the 2D arrow. And yes, recompiling is complicated and not a very

elegant solution.

Danny
