Hi there
I could be wrong here, but I always thought it is a function of the Mac recording software called ScreenFlow.
Hopefully someone that knows beyond a shadow of a doubt will chime in here.
Cheers... Rick

I have not seen Lynda.com courses. But have you tried Custom Mouse Clicks options?
Select the mouse pointer. > Properties. Below the Show Mouse Click check box, you have a dropdown where you can select Custom and choose among the options that is displayed.

I was wondering about something similar I saw in a Captivate tutorial on YouTube. The mouse pointer has a yellow highlighter circle. Makes me wonder if they built a new mouse pointer in Flash and loaded that as their mouse pointer.

Hi there
I'd be willing to bet this video was recorded using Camtasia Studio. The yellow circle behind the mouse is a feature that is easily added to those videos.

but we can't do the yellow circle in Captivate, right?

You can either use the built-in custom mouse clicks or create your own yellow circle using Flash. You might be able to google one and download it for free. As long as it's a .swf file, it should work. You could place it in the following directory (Win 32) or browse to your save location:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 7 (32 Bit)\Gallery\Mouse\VisualClicks

Hello again
No, it's not available as an option in Captivate. But it doesn't mean you can't have it if you want. But there is a trade off.
I created a CUR file using SnagIt that has a basic mouse pointer with a yellow circle. I did get it to work, but the trade off here is that the yellow circle bit cannot be made translucent. In effect, it's just a solid yellow dot that would contain the mouse pointer as shown below.

I didn't know you could create a CUR file using Snagit. Thanks for that tip!

If you don't need HTML6 output, InfoSemantics has a great 'Customcursor' component (widget). You can use any image and also limit the change of the cursor to certain regions on the stage.

LOL, I suppose if you are a flash gearhead as Rod and Tristan are, the possibilities are endless!
Thanks for sharing that! I'm wondering if that would allow for using a PNG image with alpha on the circle part?
Happy Monday all! Rick

Rick, I should try it out, certainly already used PNG (my flute...) as cursor. I'm not a Flash gearhead BTW, still sticking with AA...

PNG with Alpha is not a problem.
Try it out for yourself:

Thanks, Rod, I thought so but always want to check to be sure...
