I need to create a variable which will do the following

    Please, try to explain what you want. A variable cannot do anything, it is just a container that stores a value.

    Sorry, let me re explain, if you look above this text field you will see there are grey stars on the page that say average user rating and then Your rating, if you mouse over the stars they light up yellow and when you click a star it saves the rating.

    You should see it in the first post question BEFORE YOUR REPLY follow?

    You want to create that in Captivate? Which version do you use? You would certainly need states, which means Captivate 9, and advanced actions as well.
