Captivate 9 Import Audio

Community Beginner ,
Mar 19, 2018 Mar 19, 2018

All of a sudden I can't import any audio to a slide. They are very small .mp3 files that provide narration. I've tried any number of methods (Audio menu, Media in task bar, Add Audio under Property Options, etc.) and nothing works. I don't get any error messages -- it just doesn't do anything. It was working yesterday. I even tried rebooting, but no joy. Any ideas what else I can check or do??

Well, that was something I couldn't have guessed. Solved is most important however.

Normally MP3 will be converted to WAV. Did you try to import them into the Library? I never import them directly to a slide or an object, but always import all my audio files to the Library.

If you cannot import them, try to clear the cache (Preferences has a button) but keep this file open so that its cache is maintained.

It won't let me import to the library either. Clearing the cache didn't help. Again, no error message -- it just doesn't do anything. I've worked on many projects before and not had any problems. All the files have been mp3's. Any other ideas?

Are you on the most recent version of 9? That is 9.0.2.437.

It is possible that the mp3 is not correctly encoded. Can you use the Adobe Media Encoder which is packed and installed with Captivate to re-encode to mp3? Do you have a small wav-file? Just to try to test to import that file to the Library.

Problem solved... and it was so STUPID I'm embarrassed to say but I will anyway. The files were in a ZIP folder. I was grabbing files straight from that folder BEFORE unzipping them to a different location.
