Question

Captivate 9 (Mac) freezes as soon as it starts

Help, this is very frustrating. When I launch Captivate, it freezes after about 5 seconds, no matter what I do. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and the problem persists. What else can I do?

Thanks

Updating to 9.0.2.437 resolved this issue for me. Best to install via Help > Updates.

Same problem - though I was able to get in to update (just once) but I'm currently running the latest version (9.0.2.437)

I open it and boom - frozen.  The one time I made it to the help window to check for an update there were none (I'm running 9.0.2.437)

Frustrating!  Please help Adobe!

This Forum is only really a User Forum.  It's not Adobe Support, though sometimes the Adobe reps will chime in on issues.

But if you need to speak urgently with an Adobe Support Person you should really call them up via their support number for your country.

So I finally got through to the Captivate Support line and spoke to a very friendly and helpful tech. He remote logged into my computer and the first thing he did was check if I had the latest version. He had to be quick to get to the Help > Updates... menu, because Captivate would freeze within about 5 seconds.

It turns out I did not have the latest update. Then he said that they had had this problem with the freezing and they released a fix. So we managed to update to the latest version - and VOILA just like magic - problem solved.

The Version I am now on is 9.0.2.437

I hope this helps you guys too.

I have exactly the same. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but this makes no difference. I've also tried deleting the local adobe captivate preferences file in the library folder. This worked the first time but subsequently doesn't work. The installation on my desktop at work is fine - doesn't have the problem. I have almost the same configuration on my laptop but the laptop AC9 just freezes. Any suggestions gratefully received. It's a real pain as I have to get some work done on this before going back to work on Monday morning.

When I go the Help menu, the update button is greyed out, suggesting that I have the latest version. It is 9.0.1.320 which appears to be a slightly earlier version that what Reeebzy17 is citing.

I found an earlier thread that suggested deleting preference files in the library folder, so I deleted  com.adobe.Captivate.plist and the Adobe Captivate 9.0 folder, both in home>library>Preferences. I also cleared the cache in Cp itself. I cleared the trash folder, restarted the computer and it seems to be working.

Did you clear the Layouts folder in Shared documents?

Where do I find the layouts folder and shared documents, please?

I have the same problem. As soon as I select any menu - I get the spinning wheel of death and the application stops responding. I have to force quit to close the application.
