Hi
I'm brand new to Captivate, I've recorded a Video Demo of a website. I want mouse click sounds but I don't have them. Searching for the answer people say to turn Mouse Edits on, then click a mouse icon on the timeline, then adjust the settings in Properties on the right hand side. But I don't have Mouse Click Sounds present in the properties.
I'm running the 30 day trial of Captivate 2017 - but I thought the trial was a fully featured version of Captivate, so I don't know why I don't have the same options as everyone else! Can anyone else help? I'm on a deadline here and don't want to have to drag this into Premiere and add click sounds for like a ten minute software demo
Here's a screenshot of my mouse properties panel:
Thanks

Trial version has all features of the full version.
I don't know who told you about the mouse click sound. For cptx-projects, software simulations, that mouse click sound is available in the mouse properties panel. That is not the case for cpvc-projects.

Thanks for the reply Lilybiri
I guess I must have read an answer that was dealing with a cptx project.
So there is no way of adding mouse clicks in Captivate when doing a screen record/video demo? Seems strange - how do people make tutorials with mouse clicks using Captivate if so?
Thanks

Using a cptx project, software simulation which allows creating an
interactive tutorial contrary to a passive video.

That's a shame. I've now had a quick play around with interactive tutorials, and I got mouse clicks to operate - but it's just not what I get paid to make. My clients want passive video demos/tutorials of their software, and they want mouse clicks to be audible.
It seems strange that mouse click options aren't there for Video Demo in Captivate - especially because the mouse capture element is really strong, allowing me to fix minor mouse scroll errors, smooth mouse paths etc in post - but not hear mouse clicks, despite them being offered in other areas of the same software?
Is there a reason for this that I'm overlooking? Because I'd happily pay for Captivate ongoing if it had mouse clicks in Video Demo, on top of my Creative Cloud subscription for everything else that I use.

Most users find the click sound, which is available for cptx-project simply annoying. I tried to use system audio - which is possible both for cptx and cpvc-projects - but it didn't capture the clicks on my Surface Pro. As Zeeshan below points out, this should work, maybe it is due to the Surface?
Using System audio will capture mouse click sounds in Video Demo:
If you use a cptx-project, although it is initially meant to create (much more efficient) interactive tutorials, you can capture a software simulation in Demo mode, and publish it to MP4, which will also be a passive video. The big difference between cpvc and cptx is that a cptx-project is slide-based which makes editing and synchronizing a lot easier.
If you only have to create passive video, Captivate may be overkill for you because it is a real eLearning authoring tool. Did you look at Video Xpress (from Adobe Presenter) or Camtasia (Techsmith)? Since I am mainly a CC and Captivate user, I cannot confirm that you'll have the click sounds there however.

Hi Lilybiri,
Thanks for your continued help. I can confirm that recording with System Audio ticked does not capture mouse click sounds in Video Demo.
I'll have a look at Video Xpress, though I currently use Movavi Screen Capture, which does record mouse clicks (it plays a user-specifiable mp3 or wav each time the mouse is clicked, but the sync between the two actions drifts over time for long recordings, requiring me to continually edit the timings of the click sounds). Movavi also doesn't have to option for post-production amendment and smoothing of mouse paths, which is one of the main features of Captivate that I was looking to utilise. I'm aware of Camtasia but haven't tried it - I don't see how it is better for my usage than Movavi.
I edit in Premiere so I don't really need editing capabilities other than the mouse edit features of Camtasia. Its just a shame that I can't have editable mouse sounds in Captivate in Video Demo, although it is available in other areas of the same program. Bizarre. Maybe I should also look at a slide-based cptx project for software tutorials instead.

Hi,
The functionality you are looking for can be achieved by enabling various event sounds for your windows like mouse select etc.
While creating video demo, enable system audio and record. Your requirement should be met in that case.
Kindly let me know if you need any further help in regards with the same.
Regards,
Zeeshan

@zeeshan That is what I tried right away and mentioned in my last reply: enabling to capture system audio but in CP2017 click sounds were not captured. I am on Win10, Surface Pro 4.
However I found a new feature, that I didn't see mentioned anywhere: it is no longer necessary to change the AdobeCaptivate.ini file to launch Video Demo on a retina screen? Did I miss it in the documentation? It is maybe a small enhancement, but VERY useful!

Hi Zeeshan,
Thanks for the reply, but I do not see how to enable mouse select in Windows system sounds. I'm using Windows 10, and looking at the Sounds tab of the Sound menu, there are options for changing Calender Reminder, Close Program etc, but nothing to change mouse sounds. Maybe this is not what you meant.
