Question

Captivate quiz locking

I created a module in Captivate 9 and released it through our LMS.  While most people who are taking it seem to be completing it without any issues, a few people are saying that when they reach the quiz, it "locks" and they can't finish it.  A couple of these folks have said that once they restarted their computers, they were able to proceed through the test.  Is this a problem with the way I set the quiz up in Captivate, or is this perhaps some sort of browser issue (most people are using IE)?

Do you have Backward Movement disabled in the Quiz Settings?

What settings do you have for Quiz > Settings > Required dropdown?

I removed the Back button from the quiz, but did not disable Allow Backward Movement in Quiz Settings.

I have "User must pass the quiz" in the Required dropdown.

Thanks much!  I just heard from a couple learners that they had to leave the quiz to work on something else, but upon re-entering it, they got stuck. Would that be a different issue?

Yes.  In all probability your LMS has a timeout feature that terminates the session after X amount of time where the learner has done nothing to indicate they are still involved.

You need to tell your learners up front that they need to complete the lesson in one sitting or else close down the browser so that LMS bookmarking will kick in.  (But you must have Never Send Resume Data UNCHECKED in your quiz settings for LMS bookmarking to work at all and you need to test whether your LMS does in fact support it.)
