Captivate "connection error" on slide video

Hi fellow CP users,

Here is the issue I am looking for help with. I am inserting a flash video into a captivate 8 project and only getting a "connection error" message when I try to preview. I've also tried uploading the video as a MP4. Both of these things have worked for me in the past with the same file types and Captivate version I am currently using.

The only thing I can think of that is different is that my laptop was replaced by IT a few weeks ago, and this is the first time I have performed these functions since that time, so I am wondering if it is a setting or something that needs adjusting.

Other instances I found where this happened seemed to be mainly in CP 5 and 6, and in those cases they seemed to be seeing the error after publish, with the video working fine in preview mode. I tried publishing according to some of the fixes suggested but still no luck.

Any help appreciated! Thanks!

I am having the same issue. I have spent hours combing through forums trying everything I can possibly think of to no resolve. I am playing the .swf file in browser, everything works fine until the first video is supposed to load, then I get a very brief 'connection error' message, followed by 'loading', however the video fails to load. I have tried using different video files, different computers, and in different browsers, but I get the same failure every time. I even created a very short test project recording video directly into the captivate project and the video still won't play. This used to work and I don't know what has changed in the last 2 months to explain why the software seems to be broken. I am beyond frustrated. If anyone has any suggestions please let us know!

Did you try my suggestion about setting your Flash Global Security?

Yes. I have the published folder (with .swf and video files) on my Desktop, and I added the folder in the Flash Global Security Settings. It still won't load the video though...

Your issue may be related to the fact that your new laptop hasn't been set up by IT so that your publish folder location is a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings.
