Centering Shapes - Captivate 9

I'm working in Captivate 8 and 9 and I have a couple questions:

1.   Is there a quicker way to center shapes on the slide than using the modify menu?  Perhaps there are large "snap to" cross hairs I can turn on that will show me the center of the slide relative to the shape being dragged?

2. I can't seem to UNcenter my shape when I've indicated that in the modify menu.  The line items in the modify menu remains checked no matter what I do.

I use the right-click menu much more than the menu at the top.

On CP9 I often drag out several guides to help design, you can snap to guides. See: http://blog.lilybiri.com/guides-rule

I cannot answer for 8, don't have it on this system. In CP9 (9.0.2.437) there is no problem to drag a centered shape from the center, or to move it with shortcut keys. However I have a vague memory that there were issues as you describe in a previous version, probably of 8. Check if you have the latest versions of both, please.
