Change the default skin

How can you change the default skin, either across the entire app or just in a particular theme? There is a "Theme Default" option in the Skin dropdown, so there has to be a way to set it. I've tried saving the desired skin as "Theme Default," but no luck. I'm now using version 7 - looks like the Skin Editor was not changed from v6.

The skin is part of the theme. So if you change the skin, why not create a custom theme that will have that skin and eventually other changes you made to master slides, objects styles etc.

That's just it - I have a custom theme, but I can't get my skin changes to stick. I'll change the skin, save the theme, start a new presentation, apply my theme, and the default Captivate skin settings (not the ones I saved) are still there.

I am running into the same issue. Everytime I reopen Captivate and apply the custom theme, it reverts to the default skin. The customized skin I made is still an option, but I have to go into the skin editor and select it from the dropdown.

The same thing is happening with me as well.

For me, alot of my settings in the TOC were not kept in my theme.

The fonts were saved to the what I design the theme to be, but a lot of the settings changed back to the product's default.

Is that a bug as I have saved this as a Theme and applied it to a new project.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Susanne

I'm now running 7.01, and it's still a bug. A theme saved with a custom skin will revert back to the default skin when the theme is applied.

Hi there,

The entire skin is not part of the Theme. Properties mentioned in the 'Theme' area should get saved as part of the Custom theme. Let us know in case if you are seeing issues with the 'Theme' prperties when you apply a custom themes.

Thanks,

That's an absolutely ridiculous 'decision' by the Adobe developers. Isn't consistency the point of using themes? If so, shouldn't that include ALL graphical aspects of projects? Why should I care about the playback colors if I don't want the playback controls at all, or maybe just certain controls? What difference does it make that I can standardize the border colors, but not the border style or width?

If a skin can be saved in a theme, and themes are used for consistency, then EVERYTHING about the skin should be saved in the theme - not just certain arbitrary elements. Consistency ends up broken - both by us as users who may forget which parts aren't included and by the Adobe developers for including only certain elements.

I agree.  As a new user of Adobe Captivate 7.0, I'd like to set up templates that can be used for consistency since the team comprises of 5-6 IDs.

Under the menu item Themes, it's misleading to have the items listed under it that cannot be saved into a Theme for other projects.

On a more basic level, can I set my corporate approved font to be the default when I launch Captivate?    Other than saving as a theme or going into Object Style Mgr, how can I make a font as a default upon loading Captivate?

Please Advise.

Thanks!

Susanne
