Chinese Captions in Captivate 5

Hi

I am trying to translate an English tutorial into Chinese just by changing the caption text. I have exported the captions and had them translated into Simplified Chinese. I can see the characters in Word (2010). I have tried the following and everything results in some characters being displayed as a box with a cross:

1. Copy & paste the Chinese translation into Captivate

2. Import the Chinese text into Captivate

3. Change the font to Arial, as this is supposed to support Chinese characters.

4. Added the Chinese Simplified font to my PC (Windows 7).

5. Record a new tutorial using the Chinese Simplified language, but no captions were generated when I tried this and when I tried to add a caption to the tutorial it added it in English.

Please can anyone suggest anything else to try...?

Thanks

Do you have the Chinese toolbar on your windows system?

When entering Chinese text into Captivate I first switch to Chinese mode on my toolbar, then go to Captivate, when I open a new caption box and type in pinyin, a small dialogue box opens in the top left corner of captivate and you can choose the correct combination of characters, then click the green arrow and it enters it into the captions box.  Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for your help. I think this has worked.

I have just sent my translated tutorial to our Chinese contacts for checking.

One point to note if anyone else finds this post useful is that I had to select CH Chinese on the Language bar a few times before the selection was remembered and the additional Chinese buttons were shown. Once it was selected, however, it worked perfectly.

    Thanks

Hi!  I am afraid that I do not have an answer for you at the moment, but I am beginning to research the same topic.  We may have to support an Chinese audience soon.  I will be glad to share anything I learn with you, and I would really appreciate it if you would be willing to share what you learn with me.  Have you figured anything out already, and do you have any samples that you could share?  Thanks so much!
