Converting FLA files to FLV and/or F4V

Hi there,

Novice Q. I'm using the trial version of elearning suite and am unable to import flash video into Captivate. I'm assuming the FLA files need to be converted to FLV or F4V, but I can only generate SMV files, and these do not import into Captivate. I have media encoder start-up faults, which I am trying to address in the relevant forum. Does the encoder need to be active to convert these flash files? Running Mac OS 10.5.8. and wanting to upgrade to Lion soon (which may also be problematic for the media encoder in itself). Thanks.

Normally the Media Encoder will convert in the background. But I just checked this file format, it is not supported for import into AME, and I read this

SMV is the movie capture format of Snes9x, a SNES emulator. SMV is not a multimedia file. It's only a recording of which buttons were pressed during the play. It does not contain image data or program code.

Wondering if this is not your problem, but I'm not a video specialist. Can you look out for a converter that could convert to one of the video formats that are more 'common'?

And since you are using Flash, why don't you just publish a SWF (animation) and insert this animation into Captivate?

Thanks for that. swf files import with no visual entry content i.e. there are no playback buttons shown although the video is there. I am pretty green with this, so it could be me as opposed to anything inherently wrong within the prgoram. I have downloaded and used a trial version of Wondershare Video Convertor and generated a flv file that does work in Captivate, so I do have usable video content. I have also looked at the Flash CS5.5 trial version documentation and it says:

The trial versions of After Effects CS5.5, Flash Professional CS5.5, Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 and Audition CS5.5 do not include some features that depend on software licensed from parties other than Adobe. For example, some codecs for encoding MPEG formats are available only with the full version of these products. HDV, XDCAM and AVCHD formats and sequence presets are not supported in the trial for both Mac OS and Windows. Adobe Media Encoder export does not include MPEG-4, MPEG-2, MPEG-2 DVD or MPEG-2 Blu-ray as export formats in the trial. The file importer does not recognize file types that are not included in trial mode (such as MPEG and XDCAM files). HDV is not included as a capture format in the Mac OS version of the trial.

My source video has been MPEG-4 so this is likely to be the problem. I'll use the converted video as a sample at the moment.. I'm trying to convince my clients to use this suite, and they will need video capability, so I hope it is not an inherent bug within the program. Ultimately their IT department will take over these types of specifics, as it's not my area. Cheers.

I know a wonderful FLA Converter which enables to convert FLA files to all kinds of video and audio formats with HD quality and superb speed. The good FLA Converter is a helpful FLA Player. Besides, this FLA Video Converter is a Video Joiner/Merger and video editor that can help merge or join FLA files together, trim FLA videos, remove off ads, crop FLA files, adjust FLA video size, rotate FLA video, add/remove FLA subtitle, adjust audio channel, increase FLA audio volume and more.
