Cp 7 not recording all mouse clicks

Hi all

I am running Cp 7 version 7.0.0.118 and find when recording a software simulation that Cp doesn't record each mouse click as a new screen shot.  It records a few mouse clicks, then will skip a number then start recording again.  I did a recording in Cp7 and ended up with 9 screen shots, the same recording in Cp6 got 35 screen shots.  As far as I am aware I am using exactly the same settings as I have in Cp6 where the software simulation records perfectly.

I have tried un-installing and re-installing with no luck.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

I've never seen this setting greyed out.  My suggestion would be that perhaps your Preferences have become corrupted somehow.

See suggestion #8 in this list about resetting the Preferences folder:

    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-troubleshooting/basic-troubleshooting-techniques

It's a bit of a long shot because it's highly unlikely both Cp6 and Cp7 Preferences folders would be corrupted at the same time.

Another possibility is that your computer may be lacking some essential component that Captivate needs in order for Cp's capture mechanism to work properly.  That would likely require a reinstall to fix.  and then you'd need to reset Preferences again after that.

    Hi Rod

In addition to renaming C:\Users\[your name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Captivate 7.0 I also had to rename C:\Users\[your name]\AppData\Roaming\Captivate to fix the problem.

    Thanks

    Hi,

do you have a solution now for your described problem?

I am having a similar issue that CP does not record all actions.

    thanks

    HI Stefan

Yes I did find a solution, I spoke to an Adobe support person and they got me to rename two folders relating to Preferances.

Follow Rod's suggestions in this article (#8) http://www.infosemantics.com.au/adobe-captivate-troubleshooting/basic- troubleshooting-techniques but in addition also rename (i.e put OLD on the end of the file name) this file:

    C:\Users\[your name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Captivate.

    Hope this fixes your problem.

    Thanks

    Hi

Can you please check if auto-panning is turned ON? Do you see any FMR slides getting generated in your project? Clicks happening during the panning will become part of the FMR and not result in individual slides.

With lesser number of slides, if you preview the captured project does it depict all the course of events that happened during recording or some piece(s) of the story is/are missing?

Which application(s) did you record? Which OS? Is it consistent?

    Cheers

    Hi Siva

Auto panning is turned off as I don't use it and no, there are no FMR slides in my project.

When I view the whole project I can see that content is missing, for example a menu selection will be missing or a data entry window won't appear, the video will simply skip it.

My OS is Windows 7 Service pack 1 64 bit and I am trying to record an in house piece of accounting software.  I have tested the recordings about 6 - 8 times and it skips screen captures on each occasion.

    Thanks

Although you don't describe your problem in detail, perhaps it is similar to what I experienced. My problem was that when I attempted to record a software simulation on my secondary monitor, Captivate would capture keyboard-based actions and manual requests for screen shots (Prt Scr), but it would not capture mouse-click actions. The solution I found for this problem was to move the recording window, the red rectangle, to my primary monitor. Once there, all actions, including mouse-click actions, were recorded. I even found that I could switch which monitor was my primary monitor and Captivate would record normally as long as the recording window was on my system's primary monitor.

    Hope this helps.

This is the EXACT problem that I was having and this is also the EXACT fix.  In another thread that I just found an adobe staffer said that this issue was to be resolved in the 7.0.1.237 release.  Nope, not fixed.  I'm just happy to have found this workaround.

I was also working on a remote monitor and this fixed my problem !

Thank you so much ! You saved my night

    Hi there,

Is it happening consistently on all the recording or the issue happens randomly during Recording? May I know your platform and the application you are trying to record?

    Thanks,

    Hi Nimmy

I am using Windows 7 service pack 1 64 bit and the application I am trying to record is an in-house accounting software package.  The problem happens randomly through the recording but appears to be happening in every recording, I have tested about 6 - 8 times.

    Thanks
