Question

Custom buttons

Hi,

On my question slides i inserted a web element. The web element is custom html/css that has to work as a button.

Is it possible to add a function between the <script> tag so the button can jump to the next-, previous- or a specific slide?

If so does anyone know how a function like this looks like?

Mark

I don't have an answer to the question itself, but want to warn you! Quiz slides have very strict rules, and the embedded objects including the buttons (Clear, Skip, Submit, Back) have embedded functionality.  The only interactive Captivate object that can be added is a shape button (with some restrictions: have a look at Buttons on Question/Score Slides in Captivate 6? - Captivate blog )

You are aware of the fact that when you leave a question slide, using one of your navigation 'buttons' that the answers on that question slide will be frozen? Only way to avoid that is use the feature Submit All, but you do not give any specifiations about the way you'll be using the quiz slides.

    Hi Lilybiri,

First off all, thanks for your quick response!

I wasn't aware the question slide will "freeze" when i add a custom button, leave the slide and the Submit All option is not checked.

I created a custom "Go to home slide", "Exit" and "Help" button which has mouse-over functions in it. In the "Go to home slide" button i want to add the Jump To Slide function.

The answers will be frozen, not the quiz slide. You have to be careful while using navigation on quiz slide, whether it is with your work flow of with shape buttons. You may even get out of the Quiz scope, which means the attempt on Quiz level will be considered finished.  It was just a warning. I have to upgrade this blog post, but didn't find time yet, because some features have changed recently:
