Disable 'Click Anywhere to advance'

New Here ,

Hello,

I am having trouble disabling the 'Click Anywhere to advance' functionality of my SCORM Quiz.  My client wants a simple button that allows for advancing upon clicking, but I can't seem to figure out how to disable the 'click anywhere' function.  I assume that it is a click box, but I cant determine where it is or how to remove it.

Thanks!

It's not a click box.  This function is built into the quiz question slide.

You cannot add your own buttons or click boxes to Captivate quiz slides.  The only buttons allowed are the standard Back, Skip, Clear, and Submit buttons.

If you want the user to be advanced to the next slide as soon as they click Submit, you have to disable the feedback (Success/Failure) captions.  That extra click is only because the feedback captions appear and you need some way for the user to indicate they're ready to move on.

If you want to keep the feedback captions, I would suggest is that you either just rename the standard Skip button as Next and encourage the users to click that when they want to go to the next question.  It should work fine.  By the way, this doesn't remove the need for the user to click the Submit button to have their answer evaluated as either correct or incorrect.  So you really end up with the same amount of clicks, either way.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

You are using the default work flow of quiz slides where submitting results in two steps:

  • first the Success/Failure captions appear, with the mention to click Y or anywhere on the screen
  • then the slide will advance after Y or clicking on the screen

What do you really want: no Success/Failure captions and simply advancing to next slide? OK, then just delete the Success/Failure captions, and when the user clicks on the Submit button, the playhead will continue (see actions on Success/Failure, eventually you can change to go to the Next slide) and no second action from the user is needed.

If this is not the solution, try to explain what you want and let us know which version you are using, please.

Hi there,

Lilybiri has provided the right solution and this should solve the problem you are mentioning.

Can you please update if this solution solved your problem or is it something else ?

Let us know

Hello!

Even if this is a quite old thread, I´m having issues with the same problem: I need to disable the "click anywhere" function!

We disabled the TOC (so the learners cannot spy in the content to solve the quiz ), but with disabling the TOC Captivate takes any attempt to click on the TOC as a "click anywhere" to proceed to the next question - even if this question wasn´t answered at all! I´ve tried to set an "You must answer the Question"-Option, but still any click in the disabled TOC leads to the next quiz slide. On the other hand we definitely need the success/failure captions.

So with disabled TOC we need the "click anywhere" changed to a "click on this specific button" - which I want to add ...
