Question

Given a Choice between Canvas and Schoology, which LMS is more Captivate 9 friendly?

I have recently completed my Masters of Ed in curriculum technology.  While doing so I came to love Adobe Captivate.  Our school has decided to adopt an LMS for the coming year and they have given us the choice of Schoology or Canvas.  I need to know specifically which is more friendly to Captivate 9 and SCORM in general.  From what I have heard, Schoology is SCORM compliant if one purchases the Enterprise package (which we would do if we adopted Schoology)  On the other hand, all the forum entries I have found have emphasized that Canvas is only partly SCORM compliant and then only if a separate module is purchased.  Does anyone have any guidance or a personal experience to relate.  We are in meetings all week and I would really like to be able to bring an informed opinion to the table.

Your research is correct Regan. Schoolology is Scorm compliant with Enterprise. Canvas is basically only LTI. Unfortunately none of the major eLearning authoring tools support LTI at this point. I don't know that they ever will. Markets tend to drive these choices, and while Canvas has done a great job with simplicity on the interface, the other decisions seem more oriented toward controlling the silo. Open standards tend to win out in the end. I have seen some folks using the plugin tech for Canvas - but have also seen some complaints that Canvas is somehow writing into published HTML files and making chaos. I haven't seen any of those complaints for 6-9 months however - so either Canvas has rectified those issues - or folks using Canvas have given up integration. ;)  Hopefully others will jump in here - esp. if they are successfully using Canvas with the added tech to integrate Scorm content.
