Global Keys don't work when recording in Captivate 9

Hello,

None of my keys work when recording. in Captivate 9. The Start or End keys don't work, snap to mouse F11, etc. Through trial and error, I managed to get End to work as Fn+End.

My SnagIt uses only 1 hot key to capture CTRL + Prt Scr.

What could be the issue? Looked through the forum but couldn't find an answer for newer version of Captivate. This is affecting my productivity when recording software sims, as I can't start, pause, snap to window...basically use any global keys when recording.

Which OS and which keyboard - language? Do you run Captivate as Administrator (essential for capturing)? Did you check the Recording keys in Preferences - I think so. Can you try to clean the Preferences, to restore the original keys?

    Hi. Thanks for your reply.

    I am using Windows 7.

Yes, I checked the recording global key preferences, didn’t change preferences and none of them works.

Set a few to new hotkeys but that didn’t work. Set them back to default, but the only key that works is for ending recording and only if I  do Fn+End on my keyboard, and I didn’t set it to that key.

Basically I only have 1 keyboard function, to end with Fn + End, and hit the red Record key to start to create my training with.

Look in the installation folder for the subfolder 'utils' and tun the file 'CleanPreferencesWin.bat' while Captivate is closed.

Which keyboard do you use? Is it a US keyboard?

Ok, figured out you mean ‘run’ the file.

Need to get our Sys Admin to do this. Will see how it goes.
