I'm testing a new project that uses Helvetica Neue. The captions looked a little "wonky" while building the slide, but I was hoping they'd sharpen up a bit upon publishing. I have published a few times and adjusted the quality of the slides and the published project, but the result is the same. The letters are uneven, the tops/bottoms of letters don't line up. It looks really messy. The image below is from the published swf. Thanks!!

Looks like this particular font does not play well with Captivate. Try using a different font. Better yet...ONLY use Web Safe fonts.

Couple questions on the font being "web safe." I understand web safe fonts needing to be considered when building a web page because of the variety of browsers and operating systems, but if Captivate publishes a packaged product, wouldn't the fonts become part of that package? So regardless of what OS or browser, the font should work, right?

Update: It turns out Helvetica Neue is listed with the full list of fonts (so not in the Web Safe section), but regular Helvetica is listed up top, in the Web Safe fonts section. The regular Helvetica is NOT listed in the main list of fonts. Only in this top portion. They are slightly different.

Hi Rod,
I'm working on a responsive project which is for a large EU based organisation, they use a certain font not available to us and Helvetica Neue Condensed Bold is a close match. But as I've been reading (on posts in addition to this one), that we have to use web safe fonts.
As a creative cloud subscriber, one of the reasons we opted for Captivate (rather than Articulate for example) was so that I could use the benefits with my existing subscription which would include fonts from TypeKit. Do you know the reason TK fonts can't be used because it could be deployed locally thus no way to link to the TK servers? Do you know if using the Adobe LMS change this or would we get the same result?
I'm not sure why the whole list of fonts are available to me if I can't use them. I do assume that only locally (rather than web synced) synced fonts are showing. Any idea if there is likely to be a way around this issue in the future? Web safe fonts haven't been an issue for websites for quite some time. Using the embedded JavaScript for each kit we simply link to the fonts so it's easy. Is there no way to use this technique in Captivate?
Would appreciate any insight you can give me. The client is a well known brand and so they are quite particular about how the system should look. At the moment I'm defaulting to web safe Helvetica but this hasn't been run past them yet.
Thanks
Peter

For Responsive projects you should always use web safe fonts even if Captivate does show you all the other fonts. The web safe fonts are in a special group at the very top of the fonts drop down list.
Captivate is not and has never been part of the Creative Cloud. So any advantages you may have in other apps that ARE part of the CC family will not necessarily apply with Captivate.
I have no crystal ball so there is no way to predict what the future will bring as far as Captivate's abilities to embed fonts. There have been some HTML5 hacks suggested on this forum, but I cannot say whether they would work in your case.
I am very familiar with the fact that many clients view their brand as inviolate and do not understand why they cannot always have what they want. But the world still turns on its axis even when their e-learning cannot use their favorite font. In some cases, with responsive projects, the only way they can have their preferred font is to insert images of their text. But then you might as well just be using normal HTML5 and not bother with responsive.

Hi,
Can you please share your project with that slide, for investigating the issue. You can share the project at dgp@adobe.com. Also please attach the font as well. Ideally Swf out put exactly similar to edit area.
