Hidden object shows when previewing

I have an object in the Timeline which is hidden (X in the eye column). When I preview the slide, the hidden object is visible. Is there a way to preview without seeing hidden objects?

    Hi Jay

This is normal behavior. When you hide things in the Timeline, you are only hiding them from YOUR view as a Captivate author. This allows you to get them out of the way temporarily as you work on other objects.

For example, perhaps you have five captions that will all appear in the same location, but at different times. You would then want to hide all but the one you are interested in while editing.

From what you posted it would seem you are expecting the feature to also hide the object during playback. That won't happen typically. However, if you really do wish to hide it during playback and you have Captivate 4, they have added a new feature to the properties. It's found on the Options tab and is labeled "Visible".

    Hi,

This should not happen. What is the specific object you are talking about.

Can you tell the steps to reproduce this behavior ??

    Hi Manoj,

The object is a text caption. I'm using Captivate version 4.

There are 5 text captions on the slide -- 4 are visible and one is hidden. In the Timeline, the hidden caption is the first one that would appear if it weren't hidden. The other 4 captions are staggered in the Timeline so that the 2nd caption appears after 5 seconds and remains on screen for 5 seconds; the 3rd caption appears after 10 seconds and remains on screen for 5 seconds; and the 4th caption appears after 15 seconds and remains on screen for 4 seconds. The total length of the slide is 20 seconds. There is nothing else on the slide except the background image and the mouse.

If I click the Play icon in the Timeline, the hidden caption doesn't show. But if I click the Preview This Project task icon and choose either Project, From This Slide, Next 5 Slides, or In Web Browser, the hidden caption is visible during the preview.
