Question

hiding objects in the timeline view as too many objects

Hi there

I have a rather busy slide going on and I have lots of objects in my slide, so much so that when I expand the timeline panel it stretches all the way to the top of the screen.  Is there any way I can temporarily hide some of the objects from the active timeline so I don't need to keep scrolling up and down.  I don't want to hide them from the slide itself, just the timeline.

Cheers

Julie

    Hi there

One trick I've used in the past is to work with a copy of the slide. Just remove all elements to simplify and focus only on what you need to focus on. Once you have it working as you want, copy it from the duplicate and paste into the live slide.

    Cheers... Rick

Although you can hide objects on the slide using the eye icon, they still will remain in the timeline panel, but you cannot select them anymore. I do not think this will help you a lot, unless you put all the hidden objects together in the Timeline panel (on top or bottom), because with the arrow keys you can only move up or down in that panel until you meet the first hidden object. Hope that this makes sense?

In this screenshot, when using Up/Down arrow I can only navigate with up/down to the TEB and Bt_Two because the three hidden objects are together

    Hiya

Thanks for your reply, I'm afraid this doesn't really help as I am unable to see the slide because of the amount of objects in my timeline.  I seem to remember a tutorial I did, and I thought it was to hide these for ease of use, until needed.

    thanks anyway

If you can only navigate in the Timeline panel between the non-hidden objects, and they are at the bottom of the Timeline panel (as in my screenshot), you can shrink that panel to see only the necessary objects. That is my work flow. And crossing your fingers that we finally get the ability to group objects in the Timeline and collapse/hide groups.
