How can I change the default browser for Preview?

New Here ,
Dec 17, 2014 Dec 17, 2014

As a developer, I have all major browsers installed. Chrome is my default browser in my OS (Win8.1).

However, when I chose preview in Captivate it launches it in Firefox. I dont mind that normally, but since some functions seems not compatible with FF I get an error message every time and I have to copy the url and paste it into Chrome... Is there any way to fix this annoying problem?

I feel I miss alot of things in Captivate, so my guess is I have missed a Settings/Properties dialogue completely!

Hi Lilybiri,

Yes, you are correct, Chrome is his default browser but when he chose preview in Captivate then it launched in Firefox and that is the issue user is facing.

Correct me If I am wrong.

Regards,
Ajit

Ajit, do you mean that even though Chrome is his default browser, it is possible that Captivate Preview is automatically linked to FireFox. It seems so strange to me, but you'll know it better.

Hi Lilybiri,

Yes, It is possible if you set the .htm or .html extension files to be open with a specific program or browser.

Once you set your .html files to be open with a specific browser, by default Captivate will preview it in the same browser. On the other hand if you will click on URL then it will open in default browser.

Regards,
Ajit

I had the same question but on a Mac computer.
You should go to:

1) System Preferences

2) General

3) Choose another default browser from the dropdown
