Question

How do I preview a simulation with scrolling in a responsive project?

As I understand it, responsive projects in Captivate only support HTML5 video formats. Captivate 8 records a simulation as a SWF (not HTML5 compatible). Is it possible to convert the SWF to a format that is both Captivate and HTML5 compatible?

Darin, you can capture a software simulation in a responsive project, and it will publish as HTML5. Maybe the FMR-slides could cause problems.

Publish to Video is publishing to mp4, but of course you'll lose all interactivity. Same if you create a video demo instead of a classic software simulation. Do you need a demo or an interactive simulation?

I was hoping to use an interactive simulation. So you are saying the scrolling that is missing while I preview the responsive project will reappear in the published version?

Yes, please do log a feature request. There should be at least a warning that FMR-slides will not display in a responsive project

I did find a possible solution in a roundabout way. As you mentioned, it appears the initial video produced (SWF) is in a format Captivate doesn't like in responsive projects. When the project is published, however, the video is saved as an mp4. While this is an acceptable format, it looks like Captivate is still trying to use the SWF. If you take the published mp4 file and insert it in place of the SWF in the project, it at least will play properly when you preview it. I have not tried republishing  after that step, however it at least appears promising.

Have you tried publishing your project to Video output then inserting the resulting video file in another project?

Are you talking about creating a video demo of the scrolling and then placing it into a project? It would appear to me the problem is everything else in my simulation records fine. As such, I would have to replicate the portions of the simulation that included the scrolling. It sounds like a lot more work.
