How to get rid of these text expanstion boxes-CP 2017

I don't know what these are called, but is there a way to get rid of them?  I understand that use of them, but they obviously are appearing when not needed. There is plenty of space around my text and they are still appearing. Is there an option for them not to appear?

      FYI, I'm not sure if you saw my post where I figured out the problem. Every instance where I had those strange boxes was on a text box that I had applied timing effects to it. Once I removed the effects, the boxes disappeared. Still a glitch in my opinion, but just so you know that solved the issue for me. I pretty much had to go take out the effects out of all my courses.

        Did you copy and paste the text from a word processor such as Microsoft Word? I wonder if the text captions or shapes contain some hidden formatting that is impacting the amount of text that Captivate believes is in each text caption or shape with text. 

         

        I use a little program called PureText that strips out all formatting from the text before I paste it into Captivate (it's one extra mouse click in my system tray). I'm not experiencing these problems. Alternatively, you can manually type out all your text instead.

        It's a good thought but all of my text was written in Captivate.

        I'm often accused of being an Adobe apologist but I will say that this forum wouldn't exist if Adobe's documentation was complete and easy to use. Just keep experimenting. That's what I and many others have done. The stuff I'm designing now using fluid boxes is night and day different from the first week I picked up Cp2017. Also, take a look at your margins. Maybe if you reduced those by a little it might be just enough to have the text pop out icons not show up.

        At this point I believe this to be a bug that needs to be fixed unless someone can tell me how to get it to stop doing this when it's not needed. See below....the box is huge compared to the text, so why is it putting that text expansion box there? This is going to be very annoying to the learner if they think they need to click these boxes when they don't need to. Help??? Or where do I submit this as a possible improvement that needs to be made?

        I never did see them myself unless the text couldn't flow into the available space and had attained the minimum font size. What is the minimum font size? Did you check the option 'Enable Uniform Text Rescaling' or not?

        You told that you did clear the cache, but did you already try to clear the Preferences?

        Yes these are responsive projects. None of my text is smaller than minimum size, if that's what you're asking. When I go into my project I don't see what you have screenshot (the minimum font size - this does not appear in my properties panel).

        I tried changing fonts, hoping that would help. It did not. I'm only using those web safe fonts. I tried putting margins, thinking the text was too close to the box; that didn't help either.


        Are you perhaps developing with Breakpoint views instead of with Fluid Boxes? Is this an upgraded project, because in that case it always will be with the Breakpoint work flow. I don't think so, because those expansion icons are typical for Fluid Box development. Did you look in the SLIDE properties panel (which means none of the objects may be selected).
