Question

how to make click boxes and hint captions visible for the user so they know where to click during the session

I recorded my slides in demonstration mode- software application - and want the user to follow the screen prompts to carry out the demonstration...what I'm see though is that the click box hint captions stay hidden until the user clicks on the click box...but how do they know where to click is the issue....I don't want to record audio for all these slides.

A click box is invisible. You can add a highlight box, in the color of your choice and eventually some text indications as well or animations like an arrow to point to the right place.

So there is not way to automatically have the hint captions show up – they were picked up in the recording – which is the point – I don’t want to have to go and touch each and every prompt. There has to be some way to indicate to the user that they need to click in a certain spot on the page??

It would be really great if this got some attention in the next version of Captivate (I'm using 9). Like ningram, I came here assuming I must be missing something, since clearly there are cases where it's useful to show the user where they need to click, and since the software is nice enough to record their locations for you then surely it must have an option for displaying those locations. Going through and manually creating a highlight box over every click box should not have to be part of the workflow for this.

    Hi there

Well, you can already do this in Captivate. You just have to set it up before you record.

Before you actually record, click the Settings button.

Then ensure you are seeing the Modes section and change to see options for the Custom mode.

Enable the things you want added, such as Highlight Boxes, Click Boxes, etc and click OK.

Then record and you should have what you wanted.

    Cheers... Rick
