I bought Captivate 8 student/teacher edition only 1 month ago, and now Captivate 9 has been released. Is there option for teachers to upgrade other than having to buy the new version outright again? Particularly seeing I only bought it a month ago and no one advised that there would be a new release so soon.

Hi Adso, see this page - if you purchased direct from Adobe within the past 30 days, then you may be able to get the new version instead:

Do I qualify for a free upgrade?

Great! Thank you very much. I have followed through and made a request. I am bang on the threshold so fingers crossed.

    I'll certainly have a go.

Having spoken via chat to Adobe, the policy is 30 days, and I am unfortunately on 31 days.

Their initial response was 'unfortunately, we can't', however, I have asked to escalate my case for consideration, which they have done and have said they will come back with a response this afternoon. Once again fingers crossed.

Can't be angry if they don't, as it is a clear policy. Frustrating though that I missed it. I have been bound to them since CS2 and played by the rules by purchasing and registering every CS version along the way, also jumping into CC on the first day it was available. History is all in my profile, so hopefully it might mean something.

I'll let you know how I go.

Thanks for the update.  Well, like you said, it's a clear policy.  Hope they might be able to grant an exception, but not sure how often (or if) that even/ever happens.

Either way, it's just one of those things - the timeline was unknowable and you did all that you could.
