Hello!
I've been looking around for a simple answer to this question, but can't seem to find one(maybe I just need to improve my Google skills).
The question is whether or not it's possible to purchase additional voices (need translations to a number of different languages in my project) from, let's say, the acapela-group, and import these into the Captivate TTS. Note that I'm not talking about importing generated audio clips with the voices into the project, but rather the voices themselves.
I hope the question made any sense!

Hi there,
Yes, Installing third party speakers to the system as system speakers should be possible, then captivate recognises these new speakers and shows them in the TTS dialog inside Captivate. You can use these speakers for Text to speech conversion.
I would suggest you to download a trial version of the speaker you are interested in and install it on your system. You need to install it as system accessibility speaker. Check if the speakers works in the system accessibility dialog. Then try playing with Captivate and once you are satisfied you can go ahead for a purchase.
Make sure you try out a WINDOWS API complaint speakers.

I had a problem with this when I tried to install a trial version of a new Loquendo voice--the Loquendo install would not complete because (presumably) it saw the Loquendo install that comes with Captivate, which I had installed previously. The new Loquendo install thinks Loquendo is already installed.

Hi there,
As mentioned you need to install new speakers to your system as part of accessibility speakers. Captivate does not install Loquendo speakers on your system. I hope the point is clear.

Here were the installation processes we tried:
1. Installed Captivate 5.0 and the Loquendo TTS addon (both from the Adobe site).
-At this point, the English, French, and German voices that come with Captivate worked fine.
2. Installed 30-day trial of Loquendo voices (multiple languages).
-Installation would not complete (reason: "Loquendo is already installed"--the installation program for the additional Loquendo voices sees the Loquendo add-on for Captivate and thinks Loquendo is already installed).
1. Uninstalled Captivate 5.0.
2. Reinstalled Captivate 5.0 (but NOT the Loquendo TTS addon)
3. Installed 30-day trial of Loquendo voices.
-Installation completed successfully, most Loquendo voices from the 30-day trial worked, except Katrin (German), Juliette (French), and Stefan (German). (Please note these are the versions of the Juliette and Stefan voices that came with the Loquendo 30-day trial, NOT the versions that come with Captivate.)
4. Installed Loquendo addon for Captivate (from Adobe site)
-Installation completed successfully, but now the 30-day trial of Loquendo voices no longer works!
So, there appear to be some product installation issues with Loquendo and how it plays with Captivate.
Has anyone else had similar issues?
