Is there a way to get TTS to produce .mp3 rather than .wav files?

Hello,

I am looking for ways to reduce my Captivate file size, and I just read that .wav files are 10x bigger than .mp3.  Because I still have a number of tts files to make, I was wondering if there was a way to have Captivate automatically produce .mp3 rather than .wav files...

Thanks for any help!

The WAV files only affect the size of your CPTX project file.  The reason it stores the audio in WAV file format is that it's a better format to maintain the original quality of the sound.  Yes the CPTX size will be larger, but that's not really a big issue normally.  If your CPTX files are getting too cumbersome, trying to reduce the audio size is probably the wrong thing to be looking at.  You should probably be breaking the project file up into multiple modules instead.

When Captivate publishes out it always exports the audio as MP3.  You can reduce the quality of the exported audio to try and reduce the size of the published content, but at some point the extra MP3 compression will make the audio sound "wooshy" and that will be bothersome.
