Multiple Captivate Quiz (Simulations) - individual scores and a total score slide

Hi

I have set up a course for medical staff where they watch a series of Demo videos, complete some try me simulations and then are directed to attempt the assessment.

The assessment consists of the completion of 4 mini simulations.

The SME would like each assessment simulation to report a score (e.g.4/10, 8/10, 10/10, 5/10)

Then have a total score to output on a results page once all are complete (e.g. 27/40  You have passed this module)

Is this even possible?  I can only get the 4 mini assessments to output into one final Results page i.e. the score out of 40…

Thank you

It is a SCORM requirement that each course can have only one score transferred to a LMS.

One solution would be to have the mini simulations in separate courses accessible from the main course and set up rules with the LMS itself. You could create a multiSco package, but I don't know how Moodle handles this.

Another possiblity is to store the individual sim scores in user variables and find a way to transfer the content of those variables to the LMS. Some LMSs have that feature by default, but no

Thanks for your advice.  Our "LMS" is currently Moodle and I have never used it before..so feeling nervous about this request.  A LOT of testing to be done.

Sorry that I cannot help more, have no experience with Moodle neither. Testing takes a lot of time, I mostly leave that to the clients. Did you find the blog post useful?

I am working through the blog post now 🙂  For me, its probably a bit overwhelming this stage, as I have only been using Captivate for 2 month and the back end technical side is "in developmment".  This is not to say that I won't have a ruddy good go at it.  Super grateful for the advice and for understanding exactly what I want to make happen!

Indeed, when you get that type of requests as a rather new user, it will be overwhelming. Advanced/shared actions and variables need some time to master. Moreover you also have to understand how Quizzes are set up in Captivate. I recently published a Basic course in 5 articles to get you started. You can find them in my blog.

I would suggest you consider creating your project as several separate Captivate CPTX files and you publish each of them as a separate SCORM.  Then you can use the Adobe SCORM Packager tool that ships with Captivate to "bundle" the SCOs together to create a Multi-SCO SCORM package.

Moodle will accept a Multi-SCO package and track completion of each component SCO separately.  (I have done this many times with Moodle.)

You will need to look up Moodle help files to see how to set this up, but it would then allow you to track each of the simulation module scoring separately, while still getting an overall pass/fail result for the entire course.
