Problem with using png image

New Here ,
Oct 29, 2015 Oct 29, 2015

I am using a template created in c7 and was migrated to c8.

When I import a Character as a png image, the image is distorted and looks like an oil paint. This is the same case with built in Captivate characters also. Please see below.

The quality of the slide is optimized. What could be a possible reason for this. Please help!

Try increasing the Quality setting of your slide to Optimized to High (24bit)

I changed the settings to high, but the outcome didn't change.

The character still appears like it is an oil paint.

Did you insert that Character using the Insert, Character dialog box? I am talking about the Characters coming with Captivate, they are not supposed to be simply inserted as PNG's, you should use the Insert, Character dialog (or with Media button in later versions).

Yes, used the built in character bundled with Captivate. Inserted it using Media -> characters. I had the "Use high resolution image" option checked and slide quality is High, but the result didn't seem very different. It still has a very distorted feel.

When you say you changed your slide quality to high, did you check under Preferences > Project > Size and Quality whether the settings there are over-riding the quality settings at the slide level.

Show us some screenshots of your settings.

Lilybiri‌, the quality of image was distorted even when published as SCORM.

I created a new template as the earlier template had several other issues as well. I have selected the 'Retain Slide Quality Settings' option and it seems to work well. Now when I change the slide settings to high or optimized, they are working fine.

I am wondering why this happened only with the characters and not other images in the project.

Thanks a ton for your answers Lilybiri‌ and Rodward, the issue seems to have been resolved.

Did you only check on stage or also Preview In Browser, or better, after Publishing?
