Renaming Groups

New Here ,
May 29, 2014 May 29, 2014

Has anyone had a situation where they created a group of objects (text boxes, images) and then needed to replace an image with another image and the group gets renamed automatically in Captivate? When I try to rename the group to the previous name, I get the following message: "Group_42 is either a reserved keyword or is already assigned to another item. Provide a different name for the item." How can I replace one of the objects in the group without having an issue with the original group name? Using Captivate 8.

Thank you!

Ah! I expected the issue to be resolved in this release. Have reported earlier.

Hard luck there.

I find this to be extremely frustrating also, especially when you are using those names in shared actions across several slides. I've resorted to creating a new file and copying in the slides and naming the groups/objects to coincide with the slide they are used on. It works, but is tedious.

I wish there was a save and compact where it would remove all previous references to objects that are no longer used. I have the same problems with removing variables.

@TLCMediaDesign  Problem with variables is solved in CP8: you can select unused variables, remove them in one action. And when re-adding variables with same name as deleted ones, no problem.

Thanks Lieve, I haven't had a chance to play with it too much yet, but that is good news!
