Question

Right-Click

I have a big project to be distributed by CD. A main menu links to several modules.

This used to work fine until I updated to 5.5.

When I run the project locally on my PC, everything works OK, but when I run it on the CD, the right-click doesn't work. This occurs in IE7, IE8, Chrome 14 and Firefox 3.6.

I have checked that the javascript file (standard.js) containing the right-click code is copied across to the CD in the root folder in the same place relative to where it is on the C drive where it works fine.

Please can anyone help as this project is a massively important one for our customers and the last thing I need is to have to use a left-click and apologise that the right-click doesn't work in the simulation.

Have you disabled Enable Accessibility under Preferences > Publish Settings?  Accessibility and right-click functionality DO NOT go together.

Also, you need to be aware that if delivering content from any location other than a web server over HTTP all of your end-users will need to trust that delivery location (e.g. their CD ROM drive) in their Flash Global Security settings.

Thanks RodWard, but I knew about the accessibility setting and have double-checked every module to ensure that it is unchecked.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the second point. How do I access my Flash Global Security settings? I'll gladly do that to test if it works if I know how.

Try this link.  When not using an HTTP webserver as your delivery mechanism, Flash security can sometimes prevent functionality that would otherwise work.  Right click is one such example of functionality that requires Flash security permissions (for some strange reason).
