Scripting Captivate authoring commands (import, publish, etc)

Hi,

Our localization group is localizing 120 captivate videos into 10 or 12 languages, recapturing software screens in the local language UI and then importing the screenshots as backgrounds into the Captivate project. After the screenshots are created, the commands to import them into the Captivate project and publish the swf are a repeatable set of commands. They would like to automate the importing and publishing workflow with some sort of scripting so they don't have to do the steps manually 1200 times :-).  Is there any way to do this?  This is with Captivate 5.0, by the way.

Thanks!

I had a similiar question and need over a year ago.  What I discovered was that Captivate did not have such automation features; however, there are third party tools that you might want to check out:

AutoIt: http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/

AutoHotKey: http://www.autohotkey.com/

I personally ended up using AutoHotKey and was able to create a script that opened each Captivate file and did the required action.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Reviving an old thread... Has anything changed since this question was answered? I have the same problem as OP and ideally I'd like to access Captivate's publishing functionality via the CLI or some other API.

joebor1776 did you end up using AutoHotKey? How did that go for you?
